How Let It Brew knows when to stop

Supported agents report when work starts and stops through local hooks. Let It Brew uses those signals to manage the awake hold. It does not rely on timers or process scanning.

    Download Let It Brew

    Get the signed, notarized DMG from GitHub.

    Move it to Applications

    Open the DMG and drag Let It Brew into Applications.

    Turn on integrations

    Enable the agents you use. Use Pi 0.87.1 or later; restart Pi or run /reload after connecting it. Closed-lid work also needs background service approval.

What it does not track

Let It Brew tracks supported agents running on this Mac. It does not track cloud agents, remote SSH work, or agents on another computer. If a session never reports that it finished, a 12-hour backstop clears it. You can stop tracking it sooner from the menu bar.

Frequently asked questions

Does it release the awake hold while an agent waits for me?

Waiting behavior depends on the agent. Pi releases the hold during supported UI prompts. OpenCode and GitHub Copilot CLI release the hold for supported input and permission events. Claude Code and Codex can remain Working during permission waits. You can pause Let It Brew manually at any time.

How does Let It Brew keep my Mac awake?

It listens for local lifecycle events from supported coding agents. A Working session keeps your Mac awake.

Which coding agents does Let It Brew support?

Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot CLI, and Pi.

Does it scan running processes?

No. It uses lifecycle hooks and tracks only the Working and Idle states.

Does the macOS app send session data to a server?

No. The macOS app keeps session details on your Mac and has no account, cloud service, or telemetry.

Can it work with the lid closed?

Yes. First approve the bundled background service. Closed-lid support applies only to tracked local agent work.
